If the Vice President is a war profiteer, then <a href="http://today.reuters.com/news/articleinvesting.aspx?view=CN&storyID=2007-02-14T233646Z_01_WAO000067_RTRIDST_0_SOROS-HOLDINGS-ADDITIONS-URGENT.XML&rpc=66&type=qcna" rel="nofollow">so are George Soros </a> and <a href="http://www.boston.com/news/education/higher/articles/2006/07/21/lamont_earned_28_million_in_2005_tax_returns_show/" rel="nofollow">Ned Lamont </a>(and supposedly Michael Moore and other Democrats do as well).

More importantly, as a former executive of Halliburton, it's only natural that Cheney would have stock options or some investments, which are in a blind trust. And it's not like Halliburton came out of nowhere when the Bush/Cheney administration. They were a big defense contractor before 2000, including with the Clinton administration. I can't answer for Halliburton's defense contracts, as it seems much of defense appropriations are screwed up.

Nor can I say whether it's a good or bad company. But, it provides a highly specialized service in a very dangerous and treacherous part of the world that very few other companies provide. (I would add that I don't blame them for moving to an area that's closer to where most of it's business is, plus considering how it's become reviled here).

Ultimately, I believe Halliburton has been unfairly used as another weapon to tarnish Dick Cheney. People don't like him because they don't like his politics and he doesn't bend over backwards to be soft and fuzzy for everyone. I happen to agree with his politics and like his manner in standing firm on the issues I care for.

What about all this? I know the site im linking to is bias but there is a lot of backing for the claims. Even in congress right now the Republican are upset that halliburton is moving from houston to dubai. After america gives them no bid contract in Iraq. that is messed up and wrong.

Cute.

I haven't read that work (nor any of Sen. Webb's wonderful prose).

But yes, the Cheney's are good people.
