Sadly, this is not an Onion story.

The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

I was going to write a post about the impropriety of running on a national ticket with a four-month old baby but between this weekend’s insane lefty blog rumor-mongering and now this, I think I’ll wait.

    Surprisingly, I have found an issue with which Barack Obama and I can both agree–Palin’s family should be off-limits!

    The rumor is simply that, a rumor and a salacious one at that.

    I hope bloggers from both sides of the aisle stay away from pushing these types of stories.
