    Dave!

That was four years ago! He’s done things since then. :P

    Dan!

Like what? Publish a second memoir or run for president? ;-)

    Dave,

He was just elected to the Senate in 2004, to start in 2005. He actually did do a lot in the Senate. :)

    Like what?

What I know about his Senate record is that he was a party line voter, indeed with the most liberal voting record for 2007.

I know this summer he took credit for legislation that passed out of the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee. Only it turns out he’s not a member of that committee.

I know he passed a pork transparency law with Sen. Coburn. That’s nice but not exactly presidential-qualifying material. I think that’s why he hasn’t campaigned on his Senate record.

Instead, he’d rather talk about being a community organizer or heady and ambiguous concepts of change or hope.

But what specifically did you have in mind Dan?

Thankfully hilzoy of Obsidian Wings (substituting for Andrew Sullivan) did the job for us. :)

Again, what specifically is so impressive that he must run for President?

It sounds like he did a few things like any other Senator does with most of it sounding nice but not passing or making much of an impact.

Makes sense that he hasn’t campaigned on his Senate experience.

    David,

In your eyes, Barack Obama will never do enough for your consideration, except he were to renounce his moderate-liberal stance and become a hardcore conservative. Does it really matter for me to lay it out? If I lay it out, would you even consider voting for him?

    Dan,

    You’re probably right.

But the point is that I haven’t heard anyone convincingly cite what Sen. Obama has accomplished that raises him above his peers to be the best candidate for president, other than being a serial memoirist.

But I do appreciate you attempts and the Sullivan piece was enlightening. I hadn’t heard of that other stuff. So it is good to know that he did do other work.

    Thanks for playing. ;-)

Hey stop mention the most liberal senator distinction. I am already voting for Obama. I do not need even more reasons to be excited about it. :)

He beat Hillary Clinton—his work at the helm what might be the most unlikely presidential campaign in history should count for something.
