Congratulations to President-elect Obama and his supporters. It’s truly a historic moment.

While I doubt I will agree with many of his policies, he will be my president. I won’t have a bumper sticker or a yard sign calling for his impeachment, and don’t expect to be moving out of the country anytime soon (where do ex-pat conservatives move to anyway?).

To be honest, it’s hard to feel like celebrating and I’m not too optimistic about the promise to “fundamentally transform” this country for at least the next four years. But, democracy has spoken and life goes on.

Hopefully, those of us on the right will tamp down those who will try to kick start Obama Derangement Syndrome. There will be plenty to disagree about but we have four years to work on that in an honest and loyal fashion (Plus, we will have a Vice-President Biden to keep us amused)

But tonight is history.

You’re not worried about your blog being affected by the new “Fairness Doctrine,” are you? ;)

    Mike –

I hope they try. That would be a great battle to have.

Listening to Sen. Schumer, it sounds like the Dems are chomping at the bit to bring the fairness doctrine back to at least radio.

I think it would be very healthy and a great call to arms to hash what the 1st Amendment really means. And in this day of the internet I don’t think they could get away with it.

Well you could always come to Canada.

    Conservatives won their election ;)

    Uh, Saudi Arabia? ;)

As far as calling for an impeachment of Obama…don’t close off that possibility. If he starts illegal wars and expands on torture, I will be calling for his impeachment.

There has to be some sort of accountability for presidents, otherwise, they are essentially 4-year dictators.

    Vancouver I could handle.

Not so with Saudi Arabia. And I’m not sure it’s fair to consider it “conservative” in our sense. I think they like Sen. Schumer’s approach to (a lack of free) speech. ;-)

Either way, I’m happy to be stuck here.

My mother regularly threatens to move to Canada if the Democratic candidate wins the presidency. Somehow i don’t think that she follows Canadian politics much at all. :-)

It is ironic that while Europe and Canada are moving conservative (relatively speaking) the US just lurched left.

    Quite the flip-flop.

    And David B -

I’m glad you have someone in your family to keep you in check. :-)

    For you, brother.

I probably won’t agree with him on everything either, and that’s ok.
