The Newest LDS Senator

Congraulations also goes to Senator-elect Tom Udall of New Mexico. He will be joining Senator Reid as the second LDS Senator who is a Democrat.

His cousin, Mark Udall (who is not LDS) also won in Colorado.

Their second cousin’s fate, incumbent senator Gordon Smith, is still up in the air as his race is still too close to call.

And why of all GOP Senators does Stevens have to hang on? It’s been a cruel election.

Hey–us Democrats have to have *some* designated senator to make fun of, now that Larry Craig is out of office, so why not Ted Stevens?

More seriously, i can’t find anything this morning saying what the count of Mormons in the US Congress is (recognizing that Oregon’s pending). I know it’s got to be easy to find somewhere, but i’m just not sure where to look.

Times and Seasons has as close a breakdown as I’ve seen so far. I can’t paste the link from where I am right now but will try later.

Hopefully Stevens will go to jail soon and AK can have a special election to be rid of him.
