Silver Linings and a Break

Call it a period of mourning, a time of introspection to avoid embarrassing my oversea brothers and sisters, trying to get a real life, or a simple hiatus. Regardless, posting will stop here for a time except to catch up on updates to LDS and Mormon Blogs.

However, in the meantime here are some silver linings to ponder in the aftermath of Election 2008.

  • No more hearing “my friends.”
  • the next time a hurricane strikes, it will be the Democrats’ fault
  • the world will start loving us again
  • it could have been worse
  • Hollywood can start making patriotic films again
  • it’s pretty remarkable to elect a Black president
  • Provo was spared, as angry Republicans decided not to riot
  • McCain staffer sniping has promptly reassured us that their campaign deserved to lose
  • I guess I will understand how “dissent is patriotic”
  • no more presidential polls until at least Spring 2009

And finally, proof that there is life after the election:

    I’m glad our forefathers dissented.

I’m also glad that Sawyer consistently dissents against the others.

Um, no. See, Democrats will actually fix things. ;)

Yeah … they’re going to fix us good.

    Jed -

Dissent can be good or bad, it’s nothing by itself but depends on the ideas behind it. My problem is those who fetishize it and think their protests and emotional venting is worthy regardless what ideas (or lack of) fuel their dissent.

So I agree it was a good thing the Founders dissented (even more so Sawyer) but it’s always depends on the circumstances. I hope Republicans don’t get caught up in Obama Derangement Syndrome but fight him hard on the issues.

I suspect however when they do, instead of being called patriotic dissent, it will be portrayed as “divisive.”

    Dan-

Good point. New Orleans and Louisiana were run so horribly by Republicans at the time of Katrina. :-)

Nice post, especially the line about the democrats being responsible for the next hurricane.

Isn’t that how Harry Reid gets described. This is too much fun.
