Sen. Harry Reid may have trouble in 2010

Preliminary poll numbers in Nevada suggest that Sen. Reid may (may) have a Tom Daschle problem next year.

Nearly half of Nevadans have had enough of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid as the powerful Democrat heads into his re-election campaign, a new Las Vegas Review-Journal poll finds.

About a third of the state’s voters would re-elect Reid if the 2010 election were held today, according to the poll, but 45 percent say they would definitely vote to replace him. Seventeen percent would consider another candidate. . .

Half of Nevada voters had an unfavorable view of Reid, while 38 percent had a favorable view and 11 percent a neutral opinion.

However, it’s early, he will have a ton of money plus Pres. Obama will be campaigning for him.

Dude, Harry Reid needs to retire, go home and relax. He just doesn’t have it in him to fight the good fight. He is totally afraid of the Republicans. Does he not realize he has 59 Senators to direct things as he wishes? Does he not realize that in 2010, he will have probably 64 Senators at his disposal?!?!?

Dan, if anyone needed to go home and relax….it would be you.

The main issue in 2010 in Nevada will be whether the GOP can come up with a strong candidate. Last I heard they were having trouble doing so.

Weird how being in congressional party leadership (for either party, and for either majority or minority) has suddenly become an electoral burden. If you look at things historically, this is a very, very strange development.

Chris is right on. Although, if Mitt moved to Nevada and ran against Senator Reid, he would win in a landslide.

    Hugh,

I am not so sure if Mitt would do that well. Either way, it is May 2009 and there is no sign that Mitt is looking toi relocate to Nevada. Though…..that would be a fun campaign to watch (of course, my donation would go to Reid).

As much as I would like Hugh to be right, I doubt it too.

I still hold a petty grudge against Reid on Romney’s behalf and would love to see the showdown.

But I also think Romney would have a tough time. I don’t think he’s a politician who can get away with carpetbagging as easy as some do.

I just hope the GOP can find a decent challenger before it’s too late. It looks like they might have a good opportunity right now.
