Why doesn’t someone out there write a post about Harry Reid and what an embarrassment he is to the LDS chruch?

    ks,

You should read some of the older posts on this site. Also, Millenial Star whacks on Reid on a regular basis. As for me, I will take Reid anyday over Beck.

    Chris,

I don’t fault you for taking Reid’s side but there seems to me a little disconnect between the outrage (and boycotts) directed at Beck and the trash talk coming from Reid and his cohorts.

“Evil Mongers”? I guess everyone know we can’t take Reid seriously but Beck is another matter.

David, I was just picking sides. My main purpose in responding to ks was to point out that there are plenty of bloggernacle voices also criticizing Reid. I despise Beck, but I actually do not find him to be an embarrassment to the Church. In my opinion, all are welcome. I also not too worried about Beck’s influence on the political system. The Constitution protects us from the crazies. No need for me to get mad about Beck when I can just laugh at him.

Hey, I now live in Utah (Provo specifically), we should get together sometime.

    I completely agree.

That’s great you’re in Utah we should get together sometime.

Trash talk from Reid? Really? On par with Beck’s? David, I know you are a conservative, but you are not being reasonable here.

    Dan –

As you said in another comment, Beck is a mere entertainer. As we have learned this week from a former President and the NY Times among others, making baseless accusations of racism is no big deal.

But when the Senate Majority Leader calls those who disagree with his party “evil mongers” I think he and his words should be held to a higher standard.

    Dave,

so politicians need to be held to higher standard eh? Do you really want me to show you all the numerous examples I have of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney calling Democrats as siding with terrorists? These two held the two highest offices of the land. Surely they are to be held to an even higher standard than the Senate Majority Leader, who is not even in line to run the country should the Presidency perish. That is, if we are to hold politicians to different standards than professional media, which we shouldn’t, because that professional media has the same, if not more, influence on the world of politics. The standard should be the same for everyone all around. If Senator Reid cannot call someone “evil monger” then Glenn Beck cannot call Obama a fascist socialist racist man who has a “deep seated hatred of white people.” There’s nothing more incendiary than his words right now. Rush Limbaugh is trying to get back on top by calling Obama’s America a racist country where blacks can now beat up on whites at will.

The false equivalency of depravity is disturbing, Dave. That you can compare the words of those on the left and think them equal to the hatred and vitriol that comes from the leaders of the conservative movement! There is no comparison dude. Maybe someday you will see this, and shake your head at how stupid conservatives sound today.
